Questions to Ask Your Surveyor

Before choosing a surveyor, it is sensible to ask:

• Are you RICS, RPSA, CABE or otherwise professionally qualified?
• Do you have experience with this type of property?
• What level of survey do you recommend and why?
• Can I see a sample report?
• Will the report include photographs?
• Will you comment on repairs and likely causes of defects?
• Is a valuation included?
• Are you covered by professional indemnity insurance?
• Will you talk me through the findings after the inspection?
• What areas are excluded from the inspection?
• What is the total fee, and what is your turnaround time?

A good surveyor should be able to explain which survey is appropriate and exactly what you will receive.
